Where to Find Pools with a View in London

Take the stress out of selling property in central London by taking a dip in one of the capital’s outdoor swimming pools. Click here for details

The highest price tag ever put on a home in central London is £280,000,000, according to media reports.

Previously the residence of the Lebanese Prime Minister and Saudi Arabian royalty, 2-8a Rutland Gate – a 45-bedroom mansion overlooking Hyde Park – has underground parking, several lifts and a large basement swimming pool.
But not all homes in Knightsbridge need a swimming pool to attract buyers or tenants.
However, we are aware that property hunters become more active in the summer months as warm days and lighter nights encourage more people to step up their search for a new home.

Plaza Estates also understand that selling property can be a stressful experience. This is why we handle every aspect of the process. From advertising your house or flat in the local area and on national property websites to holding accompanied viewings and keeping you fully informed at every stage of the conveyancing period, exchange of contracts and completion of the sale.
With temperatures in London set to hit 28C this week, what better way to take the stress out of selling a home than to take a dip in an outdoor swimming pool?
Here, we go through your options in the centre of London as well as highlighting one of the best outdoor pools with a view over the capital.

Serpentine Lido, Hyde Park W2
Open seven days a week from 1 June until 12 September, the Serpentine Lido and its accompanying paddling pool is perhaps the best known open air pool in London. This swimming facility, which is sectioned off from the pond in Hyde Park, is unheated, unchlorinated and users get to share the water with the local wildlife. However, it is open to the public from 9.30am and is next to the Lido Café Bar’s waterside tables.

Oasis Sports Centre, 32 Endell Street WC2H
This little-known heated outdoor pool in Covent Garden is flanked on all sides by residential and office buildings, which is perfect for keeping out any chilling breeze. Other facilities on offer at this council-run facility include a 140 station gym, three squash courts and two studios hosting a range of fitness classes.

Kings Cross Pond Club, off York Way N1C
At the northern end of the new development surrounding Kings Cross, the Pond Club is part of an urban renewal programme that is surrounded by plant life and gardens. But to ensure water quality, visitor numbers are limited to 163 a day and there are time limits on sessions, which run 8am to dusk Monday to Friday and 10am to dusk at weekends.

Hampstead Heath Swimming Ponds NW3
Covering 790 acres, Hampstead Heath is just over five miles from Knightsbridge. While the views over London on offer are widely noted, not everyone knows about its three swimming ponds – one for men, one for women and a third that is mixed. The women’s and men’s ponds are the only open-water swimming facilities that have a life guard on duty in the UK and are open to the public every day of the year. Just be prepared to share the unheated water with ducks and swans.

The value of homes within five miles of an outdoor swimming pool is rising. The price of residential property in Kensington & Chelsea rose 5.2% in the year to March 2016 to take the average value of a home in the borough to over £1.3m.

The Property Industry has always and continues to interest me, and after joining Plaza Estates in 2008 I have experienced a market which has taught me alot. In my role advising clients on their purchases (together with our sales teams), managing the refurbishments for them (together with our management and design team), preparing the property for rentals (together with our rentals teams) or sales and being responsible for the Companies digital marketing I have seen the market from various aspects. The market is always changing and it is essential we constantly adapt, which since Plaza Estates was established in 1972 is something the company has always done. We pride ourselves in the personal relationship and service we have and give all our clients and being part of a company which is "big enough to cope and small enough to care" is something I really enjoy.

Dear Eitan In this whole sorry saga, with headbutting, unproactive lawyers, and a comatose estate agent etc etc, you have been a beacon of light throughout. Efficient, professional and responsive. This would never have got done without you. Thank you. All the best.

We have been using Plaza Estates for many years for all our property requirements (sales, letting and management) and are delighted with the results and service they constantly deliver and provide!

I generally dealt with the Marble Arch branch most of the time, but I can also say that the Knightsbridge office was also exceptionally helpful and professional on the occasions I did deal with them. Plaza Estates in general are excellent.
