More About Hampstead

How well do you know the Hampstead area? We can show you the best it has to offer, from its transport links to its premium properties and amenities.

It’s no understatement to say that Hampstead has a lot going for it. From the wild, open expanses of Hampstead Heath to its long-standing reputation as a cultural, intellectual, literary and musical hotspot. Beginning a little north of Primrose Hill, Hampstead sprawls northwards with many interjections of greenery, sweeping rows of Regency houses and the Heath itself.

Hampstead Heath, and the staggering number of amenities, hotspots, viewing points and places of interest it includes, are a major draw for the area. This beautiful expanse of green includes the sweeping views from Parliament Hill and the associated outdoor lido, to the hill garden and pergola, playgrounds, a zoo, tennis courts, cricket pitches and the stately Kenwood House.

And yet, Hampstead is neither countryside nor suburban sprawl; the high street is packed with pubs, shops, cafes and independent establishments. There is also a great collection of local schools, and excellent transport links directly into the heart of London.

Hampstead is renowned for its diverse architectural styles spanning several centuries. Properties range from Georgian and Victorian townhouses to Edwardian mansions and modernist buildings. The area is particularly famous for its large, detached houses and mansions with spacious gardens, many of which date back to the 18th and 19th centuries.

Unique to Hampstead are the numerous artist studios and cottages, reflecting its history as a haven for the arts. Some of the most desirable properties can be found on streets such as The Bishop’s Avenue, Winnington Road, and Fitzroy Park. Hampstead High Street and Heath Street also offer a mix of period conversions and modern developments.

While Hampstead generally maintains its historic character, there are ongoing efforts to enhance the area. The redevelopment of the former King’s College campus on Kidderpore Avenue into luxury homes is a notable project.

In the past year, Hampstead’s property market saw an average price of £1.34M. Flats were the most common sold, reaching an average of £883K. For those seeking more space, terraced houses went for significantly more at £2.17M, while semi-detached properties fetched approximately £2.77M. Find out the latest prices here.

Dear Eitan In this whole sorry saga, with headbutting, unproactive lawyers, and a comatose estate agent etc etc, you have been a beacon of light throughout. Efficient, professional and responsive. This would never have got done without you. Thank you. All the best.

We have been using Plaza Estates for many years for all our property requirements (sales, letting and management) and are delighted with the results and service they constantly deliver and provide!

I generally dealt with the Marble Arch branch most of the time, but I can also say that the Knightsbridge office was also exceptionally helpful and professional on the occasions I did deal with them. Plaza Estates in general are excellent.
