5 things to do in central London this Spring

Find out what there is to see and do, and what events are happening in central London this Spring in April and May 2018.

Spring symbolises new life, renewal and rebirth. It’s the season when everything turns green, and where trees and most flowering plants begin to bloom. It’s a time for optimisim and growth. And where better to experience the coming of Spring than in central London? Though a densely urban area, we’re spoilt by the sheer number of public parks, garden squares and green spaces on our doorstep.

The Spring celebrations don’t stop following the Easter Weekend. So, when you step out into (hopefully) sunnier and warmer climes, here’s some ideas of where to head to:

Events in April

Discovery Day – Spring Surprises, Hyde Park

This free event in Hyde Park pays tribute to Spring. Those who get involved will learn about ‘nature-based arts and crafts’ and get to take part in a variety of activities, including a Spring nature trail. This event runs from 11am to 3pm on 11th and 12th April, and is perfect if you want to enjoy Hyde Park in all its Springtime glory.

Centenary of the Royal Air Force – RAF100

On April 1st, the Royal Air Force will be celebrating its centenary anniversary, and in honour of the occasion, a series of events will be held between April – November 2018.

Underbelly Festival

Whether you like cabaret, music, comedy or circus entertainment, Underbelly Festival caters to many different tastes. There’s also plenty of child-friendly shows to entertain the young ones. With opportunities for eating al fresco and numerous stalls and kiosk selling tasty delights, you certainly won’t go hungry.

Events in May

London Craft Week

Running from 9th – 13th May, this annual event will once again be returning to showcase the best in British and international craftsmanship. London Craft Week celebrates makers and craftspeople across the worlds of design, fashion, art and culture. If you value fine craftsmanship and beautiful objects and handmade design, then this is the event for you.

Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival

Punch and Judy fans from across the UK will gather for this event in the grounds of St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden – so if you’re one of them, we suggest you don’t miss it. A free event, the occasion falls on the day when diarist Samuel Pepys noted seeing a public puppet show in Covent Garden in a diary entry in May 1662. We’ve come a long way since Pepys’ day, but this style of puppet display has remained pretty much the same.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Held this year between 22nd – 26th May, this globally-celebrated horticultural event is an important one to have on your calendar if you have an interest in flowers, plants, gardening, growing or garden design. Held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the work of florists, nurseries, plant growers and garden designers take centre stage, and the displays are breathtaking. This event only seems to get more popular (and therefore harder to get tickets) every year. If you want to attend, be sure to book your tickets well in advance.

The Property Industry has always and continues to interest me, and after joining Plaza Estates in 2008 I have experienced a market which has taught me alot. In my role advising clients on their purchases (together with our sales teams), managing the refurbishments for them (together with our management and design team), preparing the property for rentals (together with our rentals teams) or sales and being responsible for the Companies digital marketing I have seen the market from various aspects. The market is always changing and it is essential we constantly adapt, which since Plaza Estates was established in 1972 is something the company has always done. We pride ourselves in the personal relationship and service we have and give all our clients and being part of a company which is "big enough to cope and small enough to care" is something I really enjoy.

Dear Eitan In this whole sorry saga, with headbutting, unproactive lawyers, and a comatose estate agent etc etc, you have been a beacon of light throughout. Efficient, professional and responsive. This would never have got done without you. Thank you. All the best.

We have been using Plaza Estates for many years for all our property requirements (sales, letting and management) and are delighted with the results and service they constantly deliver and provide!

I generally dealt with the Marble Arch branch most of the time, but I can also say that the Knightsbridge office was also exceptionally helpful and professional on the occasions I did deal with them. Plaza Estates in general are excellent.

Have interacted with Plaza Estates across a couple of sites and always been impressed. Maurice must be the hardest working, most dedicated, helpful and knowledgeable account manager for any company anywhere! A real asset to the team!

Hope both of you are doing well. I wanted to thank you for always being there for us and for addressing our concerns promptly; safe to say you have been the best agents I have had the pleasure of interacting with.

We have owned our Flat since 2008, which we purchased through Plaza. Our relationship with Plaza goes back to 1982 when we purchased a nearby flat and Plaza have handled all our lettings since then. I would have no hesitation in recommending Plaza - they will find you a good tenant and ensure your ...
